Rome Travel Diary

Dear Rome, I’m not really sure what to make of you. You were an adventure to say the least. You were hot and overwhelming, but interesting at every turn…

The first thing we did after arriving in Rome was this street food tour. This was my first time doing a food tour, and now I want to do one in every city I visit! There was nothing better having a local show us around the city, feed us delicious food and explain the rich history of the city.

Of course we ticked off all the tourist attractions: throwing coins in the Trevi Fountain, a tour of the Colleseum, Roman Form + Palatine Hill and an afternoon at the Vatican.

The highlight of our time in Rome was a day trip to Pompeii + Amalfi Coast. We ate pizza on the bus, marvelled at Mt Vesuvius and spent and hour in Positano – just enough time to run down to the beach, dip our toes in the water, purchase a lemon bucket hat and run back up to the bus.

Our time in Rome was short, a little savoury but mostly sweet.
